Not everyone is automatically suitable for laser treatment such as LASIK. That is why we guide you step by step through the process:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1: Contact us<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Do you want to say goodbye to your glasses or contact lenses for good? Then contact us. We will schedule an appointment for a preoperative clinical assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2: Preoperative examination<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This appointment will take approximately 1 hour<\/strong>. During this examination, your vision will be thoroughly evaluated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Vision check<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Eye pressure measurement<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Retinal examination<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Corneal topography<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Pupillometry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    You will also be given eye drops to dilate your pupils. Please note that this may make driving difficult afterwards. We recommend that you have someone accompany you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    After the examination, Dr. Sion will discuss with you whether you are a suitable candidate. He will suggest the technique that best suits your situation and will provide clear explanations so that you can make a well-considered decision. All your questions are welcome and will be answered carefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Important:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Do not wear soft lenses<\/strong> for at least 48 hours before the examination, and do not wear hard lenses for approximately 2 weeks<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Basic requirements for LASIK:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      1. You no longer want to be dependent on glasses or lenses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Your prescription is between -1 and -10 dioptres (nearsightedness) or up to +5 (farsightedness), with or without cylinder up to 4 dioptres (astigmatism).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. You are between 20 and 50 years old.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. You have a stable prescription (bring old prescriptions if possible).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. You are in good general health and have no eye diseases.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      6. You see well with glasses or contact lenses.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Please note: Laser surgery can also help patients who require both reading glasses and distance glasses, but is not intended for people who only require reading glasses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n\n\n\n

        Step 3: Treatment day<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        The laser treatments take place at the Clinique du Parc<\/strong> in Maubeuge or the Centre M\u00e9dical Alliance<\/strong> in Braine l\u2019Alleud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        On arrival you will be re-examined to confirm the strength. You will be given anaesthetic eye drops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The actual treatment takes only 3 to 30 seconds<\/strong>, depending on the correction. You will be in the laser room for approximately 10 to 15 minutes<\/strong>. In total, you will stay at the location for 1 to 2 hours<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The treatment is performed with 100% laser<\/strong>: first a Femtosecond laser<\/strong>, followed by an Excimer laser<\/strong>. Afterwards you will receive instructions for using eye drops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n\n\n\n

        Step 4: Postoperative follow-up<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        The preliminary examinations and treatment take place in Maubeuge. The follow-up takes place in Antwerp<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          \n
        • After LASIK<\/strong>: check-up the next day. Usually you can resume your activities by then.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Na PRK<\/strong>: controle na 3 tot 5 dagen om de contactlens te verwijderen. Herstel duurt ongeveer 5 dagen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          After 3 months, the final vision is usually the same for both techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Some guidelines after the procedure:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
            \n
          • Do not rub your eyes or allow water to enter your eyes for the first week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • No restrictions on reading, computer use, going outside or exercising.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Avoid makeup and be careful when cleansing around the eyes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Wear sunglasses outdoors, especially after PRK.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Do not swim or open eyes underwater for 3 weeks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
            \n\n\n\n

            Step 5: Enjoy years of glasses-free freedom!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            After following these steps and successful treatment, you can enjoy clear vision and an active life without glasses or contact lenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
